Welcome to our very unique educational experience, New Horizons Academy! We are the only private school in Nevada specifically created and designed for students with learning differences. New Horizons Academy exists for those students who do not fit into a traditional school environment.

Founded in 1974, New Horizons assists the student with learning differences to achieve to his or her individual potential. A personalized educational plan is developed and implemented by the child's teacher to challenge each learner without causing frustration. That educational plan and achievement towards the goals of that plan are discussed and approved by the student's parents.
A combination of standardized evaluations, teacher testing and portfolio assessment is used to measure, record and share a child's educational progress with the parents on a regular basis.

The crucial work at NHA is in the classrooms, with the daily, personalized education provided by our dedicated and creative staff. Our caring teachers, our curriculum specialists and classroom assistants work diligently to achieve individual student goals and provide a creative and nurturing learning environment. Our licensed special education teachers work within classrooms which have a very small student to teacher ratio to teach skills and strategies for optimal learning.
